Dispersion in urban areas - CFD

The approaches and methodologies applied:

wind flow field within the urban area is evaluated by simple steady-state variant of Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations coupled with k-epsilon model,

and, consequently Eulerian model is applied to dispersion calculation.

Models and algorithms of ESTE CBRN, as well as the whole SW tool, are continuously developed. ESTE CBRN serves as an instrument for support of crisis management decision making during radiological events (terrorist attack).

The task of the system is dispersion modeling of radionuclides and calculation of radiological situation in the region of interest:

  • Contamination of streets and buildings,
  • Air concentration,
  • Doses to population (victims) and dose rates in impacted area.

The tool is especially appropriate for training and exercising of crisis staff and emergency responders, and for exercise scenario data preparation.
